STARRED REVIEW IN PUBLISHERS WEEKLY FOR HOUSE OF SMALL SHADOWS

By 21st May 2014Uncategorised

I’ve finally tapped into secret geographies! Ahead of the US/Canadian edition in July, HOUSE OF SMALL SHADOWS has landed a starred review in PUBLISHERS WEEKLY. And I’d be a fork-tongued serpent if I claimed this wasn’t the sort of appreciation I’d hoped for, while being in the dark about what most reactions to the book would be. I probably worried about this novel (even) more than the others, but few stories clambered onto their hind legs in my head so enthusiastically, or began to dance on the page so urgently: ‘Unease escalates to stark terror in Nevill’s intricately plotted, character-driven shadow show of numinous ritual and madness … This emotionally intense, intellectually challenging supernatural novel explores secret geographies of conscience while raising hackles, and is additively readable’. My thanks to PW
