My author copies have arrived for END OF THE ROAD, and the book looks toothsome. So far each invitation to write a story for Solaris has uncannily arrived at a time when an idea to suit the anthology theme has been independently burning a hole in my mind. London bile for END OF THE LINE not long after I spent a morning trapped underground on the Central Line; my mounting curiosity about the elderly woman who’d once lived at my address in West London, and whose post never stopped being delivered across seven years (as if she still lived there) for HOUSE OF FEAR. For this “road” collection I’d just returned to driving a car after 12 years away and had to come to terms with the terror of driving with an infant in the rear.

END OF THE ROAD is out in December and I’ll be at the WFC launch of the book too. My story is called ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS.

“Each step will lead you closer to your destination, but who, or what, can you expect to meet at journey’s end? Here are stories of misfits, spectral hitch-hikers, nightmare travel tales and the rogues, freaks and monsters to be found on the road. the critically acclaimed editor of Magic, End of The Line and House of Fear has brought together the contemporary masters and mistresses of the weird from around the globe in an anthology of travel tales like no other. Strap on your seatbelt, shoulder your backpack, or wait for that next ride… into darkness”
